The results are out for the June 2020 Deemples Monthly Medal.🤩
This is the rebirth of the Deemples Monthly Medal, an all-new social distancing format for the new post-pandemic world, where golfers can participate anywhere and anytime they want to at golf courses with a USGA course/slope rating.
Handicaps are converted from the Deemples handicap index which are calculated based on the best 10 of the last 20 handicap differentials as submitted by 2 other golfers on a Deemples game, so you know everyone is legit.
This first month was a beta trial run, but still with some prizes with supportive sponsors, so we definitely want to thank them first - Crest Link, Be Golf Pro, and Dalmore!
A total of 2331 rounds of golf were played in June, and 119 unique golfers participated 212 times for the Deemples Monthly Medal. This means on average each golfer participated almost twice this month. There were some golfers who participated as many as 7 times! Thank you for the support.
Without further ado, the results for the June 2020 Deemples Monthly Medal:
Sunkyun held his lead with a fantastic net 61 since 9th June, and is the winner of the June 2020 Deemples Monthly Medal! He played a gross of 90, with a handicap of 29 at KGPA. His handicap index has dropped 0.7 since then already!
Amir Zakaria came in with a solid net 64 on on the 19th June at Kinrara Golf club for 2nd place.
3 of the top 5 spots were dominated by Koreans! Jake C. came in 3rd with a 65 net at Bukit Jalil, and Max Kim came in 5th with a 66 net also at Bukit Jalil.
Jeff Xie, playing a mid 14 handicap came in 4th with net 65 at Amverton Cove Golf & Island resort, towards the end of the competitions on the 21st June.
Note on rules and tie breakers:
Because of so many participants and also a solid handicap system, there are bound to be many ties. Tiebreakers use the USGA format to compare the back 9 net score. If the back 9 net is still tied, we use the back 6 net, back 3 net, and finally back 1 net to determine the winner.

Some other notable achievements:
3 players playing at handicap 0, scored put up some amazing gross scores.
Winner Ng (currently college golfer in the US, who also played the Sime Darby LGPA and has many other amateur wins under her belt, came in with the best gross score at 75 at Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort.
Shane Nasa Falco, came in next at gross 76 at Kota Seriemas, and Az Zak Taylormade (either he's related to the Taylormade family, or just loves Taylormade's products a lot) shot a superb gross 77 coming in at 3rd place gross at Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club too!
Playing with the lowest single digit handicaps, we have Gary Beng (6 handicap), Q .. (7 handicap), and KC Lee (8 handicap). They all played some solid golf. Gary came in at 35th place with a net 73 at Bukit Jalil, Q .. came in at 53rd spot with a net 76 at Royal Kampung Kuantan Club, and KC Lee came in at 29th spot with a 71 net at Bukit Jalil too!
