A golf handicap is a good representation of a player's potential, not the average. Handicap systems used to vary by region. Most of the world now uses the World Handicap System, which replaced the USGA and other regional systems in 2020 and is administered locally by the Malaysian, Singapore, and Indonesian golf associations. Thus, golf handicap score submission is essential.
There are issues with the way scores are submitted, and opportunities for manipulation.
Currently, with most golf handicap scoring systems, scores are either submitted:
- Manually, by dropping a scorecard into the scorecard box
- Electronically, by submitting via an app/website/scanner machine at the club
Both ways are done by the player themselves, and there is no way to know if the scores are verified by another marker.
Deemples Handicap Submission System

Originally, players’ scores were submitted and verified only by other players in the game. You now submit your own score and one playing partner verifies it. Version 5.7.18 changed what we ask you for.
To preserve the legitimacy and authenticity of a player’s golf handicap, Deemples uses a score verification system.
From version 5.7.18 onward, you choose which tees you played and enter your score for each of the 18 holes. Deemples works out your totals from that card, so you no longer work out an adjusted gross score yourself. The score must still be verified by at least one other playing partner from the same game before it counts toward game results and handicap calculations.
Once you have a minimum of 5 verified scores, your handicap index will be displayed.
How do I submit my golf score?
- Open the Deemples app > Tap My Games > Previous Games. Open the game you want to submit a score for.
2. In the player list, find your name and tap Submit My Score.
3. Enter your scores. Then Tap Submit Score
4. Select one score approver to verify your score. Once approved, your score will count toward your handicap.

5. The selected playing partner will receive an in-app notification that your score is waiting for verification.
6. The approver can review the submitted score and approve it if it matches the scorecard. If there is an issue, the score can be rejected so that you can correct and resubmit it.
Back to You: Get Notified
7. Once your playing partner approves your score, you'll be notified.
Your verified score can then be used for:
- Game results
- Handicap calculations
Once you have a minimum of 5 verified scores, your handicap index will be displayed.
What Information Is Required for a Golf Handicap?
Fields that are required for a golf handicap:
- The tees you played
- Your score on each of the 18 holes
- Course Rating
- Slope Rating
Course rating and slope rating are printed on the scorecard for the tees you played. Deemples also pre-fills them from what other golfers have reported at that course, so most of the time you only need to check them.
Deemples Score Submission System to show Results
A stroke play format is the purest form of a golf competition to play. If handicaps are in play, then:
*Gross score - course handicap = Net score
Hole by hole gross score submission
If course handicaps are accurate, then there are usually quite a few tied net scores. The USGA tiebreak method is to use the last 9 holes' net score, and if still tied, then the last 6 holes' net score, if still tied then the last 3 holes net score, and if still tied then the last 1 hole net score.
For this, we require golfers to submit hole-by-hole gross scores instead of the sum. So that tiebreakers can be done automatically by Deemples.
Game Results: Automated
The results sorted by the lowest net and lowest gross will then be displayed on a Results tab in the game menu. Therefore, this saves the organizer a ton of time, and we hope it will be beneficial for golf event organizers and golf clubs everywhere in the world.
