Trying to find a game on Deemples, but nothing fits you?

Love organising games, but don't have an efficient system to help you scale?

Perhaps thinking about making some money to cover your game organising efforts?

Introducing the golf game host partner program on Deemples.

If you're reading this, you already know how to create games on Deemples. Now is how to take it a step further to organise fun and sustainable games for both you and your participants.

Step 1: Find out the prices of the golf course

Find out the prices at the golf course you want to host at. The best way to find out prices is to give the club a call directly. Get prices for visitor rates, member rates, and other special tier pricing that is available (AGSSG, other discount cards, etc). Ask what these prices include, buggy, caddies, insurance, tax, meals, etc. Book usually for just 1 group first then you can call again to book more if your game fills up.

Step 2: Include a margin.

Mark up the prices so that it can cover 1) the Deemples payment gateway costs, 2) your time and effort for putting this together. The best practice is a 14% mark up where this can be split 50/50 between the host and Deemples. For example, if the golf course price is $100, you can mark up the prices to $100/.86 = $117.

There are definitely going to be questions from golfers on why the prices are higher than golf course rates. The answer we suggest is "to cover organising efforts and to ensure everyone has a good time". Some golfers might not participate due to the higher prices, but that's ok. It's the only way to make your organising efforts sustainable.

Step 3: Create the game on Deemples

Create the game on Deemples for the time you want to organise.
By this time, you would have been provided with a Deemples business account that allows your participants to make payment to secure their slots. You can use the Deemples business account to set up your games and include all information on the game, and all pricing options. Pricing options can include visitor rates, members rates, and all other special tier rates.

Step 4: Share the game to all your friends

You definitely want all your friends to join your game, so do share the game on your social media, and IM groups. This can include WhatsApp / Telegram / Facebook groups, whichever you have the most reach at.

Step 5: Interact and engage with golfers who join your game

When golfers join your game, make sure to interact and engage with them on the Deemples game chat, so they and other golfers who join the game know that the host is active and ready to mingle.

When slots are filled up or almost filled up, you can call the golf course again to book additional slots, so you can open more up for more golfers to join in.

Step 6: Make payment to the golf course on the game day

The game day has arrived and everyone has made payment via Deemples.
Head to the golf course 1 hour earlier so that you can make payment for everyone ahead of time, and have receipts and starter chits ready when everyone arrives. Do ask your group to arrive about 30 min before tee time, so that everyone can get to meet each other and no one will be late for their tee time!

Step 6: Payments will automatically be transferred to your bank account

Payments will automatically be transferred to your bank account connected with Deemples after the game based on a pre-set schedule. Once the game has commenced, the Deemples system will automatically transfer golfer payments to your bank account.

Currently payouts happen automatically every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but the host will be updated if these schedules change.

Amounts that will be transferred would be 93% of all collected amounts from golfers. Based on the example above of $117 collected from golfers, Deemples will transfer $117 x 93% = $108.81 to the host, effectively giving the host a 8% margin ($8.81/$108.81).

Interesting ideas to make games more successful:

Idea 1: Including prizes in games for mini-competitions

Always be OK to jazz things up by working in some competitive elements into your game. Everyone loves a challenge and some small wagers. Price that into the price of the game, and mark up after that, so that you have some small budgets to buy prizes. Balls are usually nice and safe since everyone needs them, and everybody likes to go home with something!

Idea 2: Keep schedules consistent, so golfers know when to look out for your games

Post games consistently on a scheduled basis. For example, every week on Sunday morning. Also, post games way in advance on Deemples so that your group knows that the games are happening and they can make plans to join these games too.

Post too late, and golfers make plans for other games or other things in life. Post on an inconsistent schedule i.e. Tuesday morning, then Friday afternoon, then Saturday 9 holes at 10 am, and golfers won't know what to expect from you.

Idea 3: Maintain a social media / WhatsApp / Telegram / Facebook group

Maintain a social media / WhatsApp / Telegram / Facebook etc. group of the players you have played with so that you can update them when you have posted new games on Deemples.

Deemples is great for organising and coordinating games, ensuring who's paid and who's coming. However, keeping a side group for all the players that you have come across with helps retain the community and allows them to interact and engage with each other, asking questions and providing feedback.

All this is crucial to help you understand what golfers are looking for in games, and how you can organise better to fit their requests!

Caveats:

The golf game host partner program is only available for use at golf courses that don't have payments enabled with Deemples directly. The Deemples team will update you when new golf courses become partner golf courses, so that you can focus on other golf courses that are not partner golf courses yet.
