Deemples Monthly Medal August 2020 Winners🏅

The results are out for the August 2020 Monthly Medal. A total of 3251 rounds of golf played last month and 82 rounds have submitted scores successfully for the Deemples Monthly Medal. There were some golfers who participated as many as 6 times! Thank you for your support. 🙏

Some interesting facts of August 2020 Monthly Medal -

  • Ooi SockSiang - led from the very beginning and no one was able to catch up.
  • Lowest gross 75 - kay Jay in position 2nd.
  • Lowest handicap 11 Kevin Joseph Dorasamy, but there are quite a few handicaps in the teen.
  • Number of women golfers this time - more!
  • Golfers in Melaka and Johor golf courses are participating now! Such as: Tiara Melaka Golf & Country Club and Starhill Golf & Country Club.
  • 4 players from the top 10 positions played at Kinrara Golf Club.
  • Bukit Beruntung produced most of the rounds.
  • From 5th - 7th place all tied at net 67!
  • From 8th - 12th place all tied at net 68!
  • From 13th - 17th place all tied at net 69!
  • Top 17 - all had net scores in the 60s!

Ooi SockSiang held his lead with a fantastic net 62 since 8 Aug, and is the winner of the August 2020 Deemples Monthly Medal! 🏆 He played a gross 93 with a course handicap of 31 at Kinrara Golf Club.

Kay Jay & Sunkyun Kim is tied at 63, but with a back 9 net score of 31 vs Sunkyun's 34, Kay Jay takes the 2nd place, and Sunkyun comes in at 3rd. In 4th position, we see Rid Afzal with net 66 at Kinrara Golf Club, a solid gross 90 for him with a course handicap of 24!

Amer Zakaria, David Wong & Azlan Wahab tied at net 67! Using the USGA format for tiebreakers Amer in on 5th place, David at 6th and Azlan took 7th place.

Still, Ooi SockSiang is leading the board with a super solid net 62 at Kinrara Golf Club, playing a gross 93 with a course handicap of 31, on Saturday 8 August 2020. Only 6 days left for this monthly medal to end. Most probably Ooi SockSiang will be the winner of August Monthly Medal unless someone submits even better score than his!

Tiebreakers Rules

Tiebreakers use the USGA stroke play tie breaking formula. If there's a tie in a net score for 18 holes, the net score for the last 9 holes are used. If still tied, then the net score for the last 6 holes, then the last 3 holes, and last 1 hole are used.

In 2nd place, we see a new name Kay Jay with his net 63 at Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club. Kay Jay & Sunkyun Kim is tied at 63, but with a back 9 net score of 31 vs Sunkyun's 34, Kay Jay takes the 2nd place, and Sunkyun comes in at 3rd.

Just in the first 10 days of August, 917 rounds of golf were played, and 56 rounds successfully participated in the Deemples Monthly Medal.

Leading the board now is Ooi SockSiang with a super solid net 62 at Kinrara Golf Club, playing a gross 93 with a course handicap of 31, on Saturday 8 August 2020. It's going to be tough to dethrone Ooi SockSiang from the first position but not impossible!

Sunkyun Kim is on 2nd position with his net 63! He scored his amazing score playing at Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club on Thursday 6 August.

Seems like people are very excited about playing at Bukit Beruntung. They've had new management that has turned the course around pretty well, and at a super cheap price now. As a result, among 56 rounds 10 rounds were played at this amazing course!
