Johor houses some of the best golf courses there is. Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort is no exception to that. It is known as the 2nd best golf course in Johor and the 9th best in Malaysia. So, it is safe to say that Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort is obviously one of the best of the best. But what exactly makes it so great? Well, in this article, we will dive deeper into the ins and outs of Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort to give you a better insight into whether or not it lives up to the hype.
Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort
Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort or “TPGR” is located at Jalan Tanjong Puteri 1, Taman Tanjung Puteri Resort, 81700 Pasir Gudang, Johor. It takes about 30 minutes to reach if you’re traveling from Johor Bahru or the Singapore-Johor Causeway.
TPGR was designed by Maz Wexler and Akira Mamiya and was established in 1992. They’ve managed to give life to all three championship golf courses (Plantation Course, Village Course, and Straits Course) while simultaneously preserving nature and protecting the environment.
TGPR provides one of the most elegant and comfy accommodations which never fails to fill the needs of its customers. If you plan on golfing here, you can definitely count on them to provide you with the best service possible.
Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort Courses
TGPR has a total of three golf courses to choose from which are the Plantation Course, Village Course and Straits Course. In addition to that, they are all 18-hole courses that are meticulously designed with each of them having its own distinctive features. Below are their course details:
The Plantation Course is the oldest course out of the three. It was established in November 1992 in an area that was otherwise an oil palm plantation. Not only that, but the area also had villages where the workers would live and develop fruit orchards and coconut groves. Luckily, most of the oil palms were preserved and were intentionally made as part of the design. Plus, fruit trees can also be spotted near holes 4, 6, 7, 14, 15, and 17 which include fruits such as durians, jackfruit, and rambutans. Be sure to come in with a full stomach to avoid drooling over the fruits and losing focus on the game. Overall, it’s safe to say that the designers did a wonderful job in preserving the natural environment that once occupied the land.
Meanwhile, the Village Course was established in 1994 and is the middle brother to all three courses. Similar to the Plantation Course, this course was also part of the palm oil estate with villages scattered around the region, thus giving the course its name. These villages can be spotted at the fringes of holes 6, 11, and 12 with one of them dating back to the 1700s. You can expect this course to be as beautiful and relaxing as villages (kampungs) usually are. There is truly nothing like it.
Finally, we have the Straights Course which is the final addition to the trilogy and was established in 1996. This course sets itself apart from the other two due to its mangrove swamps as its main backdrop. Also, some holes overlook a small river bank that meanders to the mangroves before heading into the larger Straights of Johor. In addition to that, this course has been said to be a tough one. The reason being is that golfers have to deal with various challenges which include the swampland, undulating terrain, rocky outcrops, and the powerful breeze. Be sure to have your doctor prescribe you with some patience because you will definitely need some.
