It was another great turn out with a total of 42 golfers from all over joined in for some fun at Danau Golf Club located at Bangi, south of Kuala Lumpur in Selangor. 100% of the golfers who turned up was via the Deemples App and arrived early for some practice before the game. Weather was amazing at the start so we were all pretty motivated to go!
Format of play
The format was stroke play off the Deemples handicap system. We did this because of a few reasons:
- Most golfers didn’t have an official golf handicap from NHS
- The very few that had an official NHS handicap might not have been updated or expired.
To get the Deemples handicap index, golfers just have to golf 5 times via the Deemples app. Then have their scores submitted by their playing partners. More on the Deemples handicap system here.
Tee off at Danau Golf Club
11 flights teed off shotgun style across 8 holes from the first 9, making it a more efficient game since there was another 6-flight tournament at the same time.
In addition to Malaysians, we were very happy to also have participants from various countries in Asia and Europe participating, making it a truly global tournament (well, we try to as much as we can :))
Weather was amazing in the beginning till it started raining near the end. The rain was horrible so we had to abandon play.
Danau Golf Club Conditions
The golf course at Danau Golf Club proved to be offering plenty of challenges. There was an especially tough hole 6 where the pin placement wasn’t the best. Most of us had to 3-4 putt that hole! Unfortunately it rained hard when most of us had just 1-2 more holes remaining, so we weren’t able to complete all 18 holes.
All in all, it was a super good time at Danau Golf Club, where service and hospitality was superb from the team there. Thanks for delivering some exceptional service, Danau, we will be back!
