1 hour north of the Kuala Lumpur city center, you'll find Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club.

If you're coming from Kota Damansara, Elmina, Bukit Jelutong, or Sg Buloh though, your traveling time is only a 30-minute drive.

From what we understand Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club was built in anticipation that KLIA was going to be built up north. But after KLIA was built down south in Nilai/Sepang area, a lot of the courses up north, including the Beringin Golf Course stopped being maintained. Other real estate developments didn't go well, ceased, or were built but could never sell.

Bukit Beruntung Golf Clubhouse

The size of the clubhouse is grand. It looks very similar to a Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, where the sports wing is on the left, with a few tennis courts, a swimming pool, and other sports facilities. Then the golf wing, which has a long walkway into the registration counter, and then stairs which lead you to change rooms and cafe. All with super high ceilings, so it makes it feel grand.

However, as grand and big as it is, the facilities look super run down. Don't think anyone's been on the tennis courts for years. The tennis court is open but in dire need of floor repairs. The insides of the clubhouse, walls, and windows, look like they definitely need a touch up too.

Bukit Beruntung Golf Course

There used to be 2x 18 hole golf courses, the East Course and the West course. However, now only the East course remains, the West course has become a jungle with no maintenance over the years.

Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club historically was always deemed to be the place to go to when all the other clubs in Klang Valley were full on the weekend, and you didn't want to pay RM200 for a game. Bukit Beruntung allowed 2-player games on the weekends and was priced under RM100. For that reason alone you know you couldn't expect much from the course.

That was about 10 years ago, and since then a lot of courses were also giving promos so there wasn't a reason to go to Bukit Beruntung again.

Recently, Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club has been taken back by its owners to be managed on its own after repeated failures by the previous 3rd party operators, and the owners installed a new management team from within its ranks.

Since the West course was beyond repair, they left it but did a really good job with the East course. The East course now is by far the most improved golf course in Klang Valley, or perhaps even Malaysia.

The greens were amazing, fairways were cut, and tee boxes were decent. Basically, it looked like a lot of investment was put into making the course attractive again!

Bukit Beruntung Golf Green Fees

Best of all are the prices. At RM75 for 18 holes and RM116 for weekend mornings, INCLUDING an RM10 food voucher, you can't get anything better at this price in this area. This makes driving to Bukit Beruntung worthwhile now!

The course has been full every weekend since golf courses opened up again after MCO. Some weekdays have been full as well!!

The clubhouse is still not in the best shape, but for golfers, the golf course matters the most.

Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club at Deemples

We met up with the management team at Bukit Beruntung and realized why they have recovered so well so quickly. The new management doesn't come from the golf industry, which allows them to think outside the box and bring real-world revamp solutions to a declining asset.

We loved the forward thinking-ness of the new management to create demand again for Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Club. At the same time make golf booking more accessible for golfers.

In today's digital age, golfers, like most human beings, love to have the option of finding players and paying for their round 24/7 whenever they're available. Since golf courses are only open 12 hours a day, and there's only 1 phone line at the golf course, which is subject to an available receptionist.

The year 2022 nevertheless represents a rebirth of the club that was mired with such failure in providing it with an impetus to chart a new future. It has rebranded itself and is in a rush to place itself back prominently within golfing circles in the country. We believe that BBGC is for everyone, for all ages, irrelevant of whether or not you have a handicap, irrelevant of whether you’re just starting or even an experienced, renowned golfer. Cheers!
